The Hi-Way Pizza Shoppe has been a staple in the Chester Hill business community since the late 1940s. Current owner, Jerry Lese, started at the shop in 1972, and is celebrating his 50th year at Hi-Way. The business is one of the most visible and public facing businesses in the area. And, everyone knows that square pizza is their signature item and the one thing that makes them unique; it is their main service and best seller.
Jerry says he has changed with the times to give his customers what they want. The shoppe now sells strombolis, hoagies, salads, wings, and many appetizers. The biggest business challenge the shop has faced is right now. That is trying to get all of their orders each week from suppliers.
What is the age range of customers? "As soon as you can eat the pizza you do, and stop when you die," according to Jerry. The business has changed over the years, with older customers moving away and younger ones wanting to try new menu items, so the business adds new menu items as needed.
Jerry says his employees are awesome, and they all do their part and get customers what they need and are friendly with the community. The best part of being in Chester Hill is being a part of the town and the fast food place. The outlook for the future is to be here for another 50 years. Congratulations, Hi-Way Pizza!
